NDA exam pattern (Paper I and Paper II)

Paper I, Mathematics: 120 questions, 300 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes. Each correct answer gives 2.5 marks and each wrong answer costs one-third of that (0.83).

Paper II, General Ability Test (GAT): 150 questions, 600 marks, 2 hours 30 minutes - Part A English (50 questions, 200 marks) and Part B General Knowledge (100 questions, 400 marks: Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History and the Freedom Movement, Geography, and Current Events and Polity). Each correct answer gives 4 marks and each wrong answer costs 1.33.

The written exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year (NDA I and NDA II), followed by the SSB interview for those who qualify.

What is in the NDA mock test series?

20 full-length mocks: 10 for Mathematics (Algebra, Matrices and Determinants, Trigonometry, Analytical Geometry 2D and 3D, Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus and Differential Equations, Vector Algebra, Statistics and Probability) and 10 for GAT. Every question has an answer and a short explanation, and no question repeats across the series.

Each mock can be taken up to 3 times. Your first attempt counts for the leaderboard; retakes are for practice.

How to use mock tests for NDA preparation

Take one full mock a week under exam conditions and spend more time reviewing it than writing it: note why each wrong answer was wrong and which questions you should have skipped. With one-third negative marking, a wild guess costs more than it gains.

Watch your time per section - many students lose marks in Maths by spending too long on a few calculations, and in GAT by rushing the English part.
